I am a PhD Student of the University of Luxembourg (UL) and employed at Service National de Neurochirurgie at the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg (CHL). My PhD Project is taking place in a trilateral collaboration between the Centre Hospitalier, the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) of the UL and the Department of Computer Science of Trier University of Applied Sciences.
My PhD Supervisor is Prof. Dr. Rudi Balling and my Scientific Advisors at the three involved Institutions are Dr. Frank Hertel, Head of the National Department of Neurosurgery at the CHL, Prof. Dr. Jorge Goncalves, PI of the Systems Control Group at LCSB and Prof. Dr. Peter Gemmar, retired Professor in the field of Image Processing and Machine Learning at TUAS.
My PhD Project is funded by an AFR PhD Grant of the Fonds National de Recherche Luxembourg. It deals with personalized computer aided navigation for deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery. DBS is a technique to eliviate symptoms of serveral diseases of the central nervous system, especially of movement disorders like Parkinsons’ Disease.
